Iolani Palace, Honolulu

For any visitor to Honolulu, a visit to Iolani Palace is really a must.   An important part of Hawaiian history, it is well preserved and open to the public.   I'm only presenting exterior views of the building here as photography inside the building is prohibited.   When I questioned this, staff claimed that photography indoors was banned as they were concerned that people might break something whilst engrossed with their cameras!   I haven't encountered that claim in similar historic buildings elsewhere,  but there's no point arguing. The motto on the state crest reads:   "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono"   which is commonly translated as :   The life of the land is preserved in the righteousness of the people.
